What is Paragraph?
Paragraph is a pop-up gallery that appears in unexpected places and showcases the work of emerging artists and writers. Paragraph aims to create a comfortable, open space for the creation and experience of art in Portland for everyone. We’re dedicated to opening doors and leveling the playing field, to dismantling scenes and avoiding cliques. We want to amplify voices and support marginalized identities through art and writing.
What’s the ask?
Paragraph and Roux are joining forces to showcase art during the weekend celebration and calling artists to design a poster to be on display at the Saturday night dinner.
We hope that artists can find inspiration through any or all of our event, workshop and panel themes. Here are a few:
Sustainable Food Practices - organic farming, seasonal eating, fair-trade, fermentation
Immigration
Equity
Healing of Food - use of CBD, vegan & plant-based diets, naturopathic practices
Basics of World Cuisines - ethnic foods, world culture and design
Artists should not feel limited to using the Roux color palette but we encourage artists to find a way to integrate food, beverage, ingredients, origin and women in the design.
Final Deliverable:
• Poster must be 11x17 at 300 dpi.
• Submit one poster per person.
• Submissions must be PDF files.

ADDITIONAL ASK
Artists have the option of “opting-in” to have additional posters printed and made available for sale at the Pop-up Shop @ Ace Hotel that will run from September 11th - October 6th. All proceeds of the poster will be donated to La Cocina, our non-profit partner.
